Convention sketch.

Here's a convention sketch I did prior to some convention or other. I may have drawn it on a plane with a ball point pen. People at comic conventions seem to want drawings of Batman, or some other character owned by DC Comics, Marvel Comics or some other publisher. They don't seem to want drawings of nobody in particular.

  1. I would actually prefer NOT to have a sketch of Batman... This guy's cool :D

  3. I can understand that, they want that combination of your work and that character that they found in The Killing Joke or something. But it amazes me you still have this. It reminds me a little of a Lucian Freud etching. I happen to think some of the 'best' 'fine artists' are illustrators really that have chosen to work on easels. Or at least there is some series common ground there with the likes of Picasso and so on (outside of all the claptrap that's written about these artists). Anyway, my point is - I'd like to see an exhibition of studies like this, no comics...just Londoners or some such, in that kind of line. That would be brilliant.
