Brian, is there any chance you can be persuaded to draw an episode of Judge Dredd for 2000AD? Your last Judge Dredd story artwork was back in 1981 - the final episode of Block Mania. It would be amazing to see your version of Judge Dredd return to 2000AD. :)
Mr Bolland that is gorgeous! Thank you-no one does Dredd quite like you!
Brian: I grew up in the 80´s/90´s and you have always been one of my favorite comic artists. I want to thank you for being one of the influences who inspired me to become an illustrator. I´m actually working in children's books, but I love comics and I always come back to your work. So thank you. Thank you very much.Greetings from Argentina,Pablo.(Sorry about my english, is not too good)
"Brian, is there any chance you can be persuaded to draw an episode of Judge Dredd for 2000AD? I even have it in my head that John Wagner has written something for you to get to as and when you had the time... there's ever chance I've just imagined this... but a man can dream can't he!Great news that you've started a Blog. Another one to be checked regularly
That is one amazing cover! Thanks for sharing it.Is it for 2000 AD or a trade?Matt Badham
Colin. A year or so ago John Wagner wrote a Judge Dredd and League of Fatties story especially for me to draw when I had the time. Well, time went on and I was just about keeping up with my DC schedule. I think it was the year I was re-colouring the Killing Joke. Eventually 2000AD editor Matt Smith said: "What about that League of Fatties story?" He quite rightly said the story was written and he'd like to run it. I said: "Go ahead and give it to someone else." I apologised to John Wagner and he was very gracious about it. So there you go.
You haven't drawn a Dredd story for 30 years so there's no reason why you would want to draw a new Judge Dredd strip even if you have time pressure from other work commitments. Not wishing to patronize you, you have to want to draw Judge Dredd again and, obviously, there is no desire. 30 years is perhaps a bit too long to wait for any new Judge Dredd Brian Bolland story artwork! Anyway, you left a great legacy of 2000AD Judge Dredd story artwork. :) Your depiction of Judge Dredd is one of the best and you're one of the all-time great British comic book artists.
Glad to have you blogging Brian. Well done to Mick for suggesting it! I've recently had the pleasure of working with him on a comic, which i think he is going to put on HIS blog soon, its called GREEN BENCHES. Cheers - Sean (a Scottish comic book writer living in Japan)
Wow.BIG fan here, Mr. Bolland, I've been following your work since I was a kid - If I'm not mistaken, the first time I saw it was on the Brazilian edition of Justice League #200, where you drew that sequence with Batman, Black Canary and Green Arrow. Never stopped keeping an eye out for your work ever since, I'll be following the hell out of this blog! Welcome to the blogosphere, and thanks for all the inspiration and the beautiful comics!Greetings from Brazil,J.
